In front of ECCO® head quarters in Tønder, Denmark there is a statue of a giant foot that’s impossible to miss. The reason for it being a foot instead of a shoe is quite simple, the foot is the starting point for everything Ecco create.

Materials

Yak leather can be considered one of those "innovative materials" that had yet to be considered a "shoe making material".  Maybe that’s because to get your hands on a Yak hide you have to venture all the way to Himalayan plateau. But once there, Ecco discovered Yak hides have extremely thin collagen fibers that make their hides 3 times stronger than ordinary leather.  The inherent strength of Yak leather has been the cornerstone in creating the world’s most durable shoes and boots for performing in some of the worlds most rugged places.

Craftsmanship

Advanced Direct Injection Technology can perform wonders to the sole of a shoe. It’s responsible for making a sole much lighter. It’s responsible for moulding the sole into a unique anatomical shape that fits the contours of one’s foot, something a pair of hands could never do. It’s important to note that not one single pair of ECCO shoes is ever made entirely by machines. If that were the case, their shoes would be made by robots, lacking personality, individuality, and style. All components a pair of ECCO's is never missing.

Quality

Being the only major shoe company to own the entire value chain, from cow to consumer, gives Ecco the opportunity and obligation to make a difference. By owning their own tanneries they are able to convert waste into hydrogen fuel that saves them nearly 14,000 litres of diesel oil each month.
